So, what is happening in the food trade in 2021?

Updated: Nov 13, 2021

A quick scan of the internet will provide an enormous variety of advice proffered on the food trends of 2021 - take your pick from 5, 15 or even 21 trends, depending on which source you believe!

We can't really tell you what is going to happen in 2021, but from talking to our customers these are some trends:

1 ) Home Cooking

With lockdown continuing, home cooking will be here to stay for a while yet. With people continuing to work from home, consumers will be looking to recreate restaurant meals and bring in more variety to breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

2) World Cuisine

World Cuisine is definitely on the menu. Indian food, has for a long time a staple British favourite, but also think African, Japanese , Italian, Middle Eastern. This doesn't need to be very hard to do either, see our Moroccan Tagine.

3) Healthy & Sustainable Food

The pandemic has raised our interest in our health, and in how our diet contributes to this - people are more interested in what is in their food. Natural ingredients such as spices and herbs (see our range here) can not only add authentic flavour but also health benefits.

4) Local Food

With Brexit, an increased focus on UK manufacturing and produce, coupled with outbreaks of COVID-19 in food producers and panic buying in supermarkets. The local food retailers, and particularly the farm shops and deli's have really come into their own, with many now moving into e-commerce, offering click-and-collect, meal boxes and many other innovations - these will continue to be popular. Customers have told us that our herbs and spices have made a great addition to their hampers and food boxes. We aim to offer a range that is just a bit different - contact us here for more information!
